Peddinghaus Partner, Alpha SteelFab of McKinney Texas, landed the July/August cover story for FFJournal with their latest production achievement, an aircraft mockup fabricated with steel for first-responder training.
Although structural steel is their specialty, Alpha SteelFab stepped outside of the box and took on a project of large stature, creating the Airbus A380. Fabricating this 3 level airbus was a massive undertaking, and took over 6 months to complete by finding new ways to use their favorite structural fabricating machines. Within the article, Alpha SteelFab notes that they used a Peddinghaus PCD-1100 drill line in tandem with a 1250-510 straight cut band saw for the project which together helped increase accuracy and efficiency while fabricating the airbus replica.
