In a continuing industry effort to educate the market on the advantages of structural steel construction, B & B Welding, a leading fabricator, based in Edgemere (Baltimore), MD has constructed an AISC Connection Structure. This unique structure highlights all the major detail connections used in structural steel fabrication for the steel construction industry.
This sculpture serves as a teaching tool for structural engineers, detailers, architects, and tradesmen involved in steel. From trade schools to universities, this sculpture serves to educate the construction industry on the many advantages of steel construction. Local universities have expressed an interest in duplicating the project.
“This entire sculpture was fabricated in our shop using our Peddinghaus equipment: from the beam line, to the FPB 1800 to our ABC coper and the Anglemaster, we used them all to produce this monument,” says Dennis McCartney, owner of B & B Welding.
“We used our BIM software package, and downloaded the programs to create a great educational tool,” he added, “We look forward to spreading the word about steel construction.”
