The Autumn edition of the Steel Fabricators' Review is online and ready for viewing! The latest installment of this industry publication sheds light on modern industry topics such as cost cutting techniques and modern software concerns.
This issue highlights fabricators from three different continents, and their keys to success in challenging times:
Genrec, Wadeville, (Johannesburg) South Africa – specializes in large projects
Metalogalva, Trofa, Portugal, Europe – specializes in energy transmission towers
Trinity Steel, Tomball, Texas, North America – specializes in petro chemical work
What is the common link that these companies share to achieve their goals successfully? They each understand their business thoroughly, and continually improve their facilities through technology – which improves their production throughput and overall efficiency.
The ability to control costs while maintaining cash flow is a key to longevity.
Software Questions Answered
Many STEEL FAB REVIEW readers are confused about various types of “production and scheduling” software that are entering the market. Some firms offer these with machine or hardware purchases, and many questions are being raised by fabricators as to their viability and costs.
On page 20 we have assembled a global panel of Production Software (MRP) experts to answer your questions, and bring some clarity to a confusing topic.
Networking Often Leads to New Business
The FabTech & AWS Welding exhibition took place in Chicago, November 14 – 17. Peddinghaus has officially released their patented new REVOLUTION angle/plate/channel fabrication machine, model AFCPS 833 for the first time at the show.
Additionally, Peddinghaus has once again opened their doors to the world for a special FABTECH Fest open house where 17 cnc machines were displayed under power.
Tour With Peddinghaus
Ms. Isabel Stegemeijer of the ASCEM (Spain Steel Association) says it best:
I personally want to thank you again for your help and assistance organizing the technical visits for ASCEM during their stay in New York. The group was very happy and appreciated very much both journeys to the NY Giants Stadium and the fabricators companies. They had really a great time.
Peddinghaus enjoys leading/sponsoring tours for fabrication groups/associations. Please join us for a future event.
Architects Getting Busier in USA
A little good news is that the American Institute of Architects in the USA reported that September, 2009 saw increased activity in new projects from architects. In fact, this was a 2 year high! Let’s hope this trend continues for our industry.
