The High-Speed FDB plate processing system from Peddinghaus is proving to be the most innovative technology on the plate fabrication market today. With the ability to drill, tap, countersink, and cut plate, all in a single pass; the HSFDB significantly reduces operating costs. The May 2011 issue of Modern Metals, a magazine focused on service centers and plate processors, describes how one Peddinghaus HSFDB helps DenCol (Denver, CO-USA) thrive in today’s competitive market.

“It gives me a competitive advantage in the marketplace,” DeWayne Deck, DenCol president and owner said. “Because I’m using the [HSFDB] machine, I can now process more. I’m able to get more off the machine on a given day. This machine can be two to three times faster than my old one. Because it’s a faster system, I get more business because customers know I can get it [products] to them quicker than most other places.”

To meet customer demands, DenCol requires state-of-the-art equipment to stay on top of the competition. The HSFDB is capable of processing an average of one ton per hour of plate up to 15mm thick and an average of two tons per hour of plate thicker than 15mm.

The HSFDB system combines multiple technologies into one machine, streamlining processes for many companies, while leaving minimal footprint on the facility floor.

The Plate processing system is twice as efficient as regular burn table technology. The amount of scrap produced on the machine is significantly minimized during processing. Service centers can save more than $600,000 annually with the HSFDB machine; based on the 4-6% average scrap ratio Peddinghaus machines maintain per nested sheet of plate. Cost savings with the HSFDB is more evident when compared to the 16-22% scrap ratio, which is common on gantry or gripper style machines.

“My Peddinghaus plate processors have made me buckets of money,” Deck said. “They work so well, so efficiently and so profitably that my entire operation is focused on them.” Requiring only one operator to load, process and unload parts, the HSFDB minimizes labor, reduces overhead and increases productivity.

DenCol is not the only happy Peddinghaus HSFDB owner. Several customers have reduced shop costs and increased profitability with this system throughout the world. The HSFDB is the most efficient plate processing machine on the market to date, and provides the ‘most bang for your buck’!
