Learn all about the IDSTV+ module in Raptor.

I hope you are having a good day. I'm Duane Bates, the pre-installation and training department manager at Peddinghaus. In this video you will learn how to do the import process for IDSTV+ files in Raptor.

IDSTV+ files come from FabSuite or Strumis. These softwares are management software that structural fabricators use to manage their production and operation. Within those softwares they have the ability to batch or nest together files for purchasing. That way they know how much material needs to be purchased. We can read that batched information in the form of an IDSTV+ file. To get to the import window go to file > import > IDSTV+. When this window opens we are on the import tab. Add the files you want to import. Select the add files button and navigate to the folder you want to choose the files from. Select the files and click "open".

Next, you have the DSTV options tab. These options are identical to the DSTV import process. Please note, you have different tabs for each profile. Make sure you set each one accordingly depending on the profile.

The next tab is the Tekla options tab. The choices on these tabs are identical to the Tekla import process. For more details on how to set either the DSTV or Tekla options please refer to the DSTV import window and Tekla import video respectively. Additionally, on this tab we have a get settings from Tekla import button. This will allow us to get the settings directly from the Tekla import form.

On the options tab, tell it what kind of file to use to import the part information. We can choose DSTV which is the original format. XML3D is a Raptor part. In order to use these files we would have needed to import the single parts first through DSTV or Tekla import. We then would have needed to export the Raptor parts back in the same folder as the IDSTV+ files. The third option is Tekla. In order to use Tekla you must have Tekla and the model open. It will choose the files directly from that model like it would in a normal Tekla import. Additionally we have the ability to prompt. When Raptor is looking for the part information it will ask us what part we want to use and where that file is open. Choose each file individually depending upon which part it is asking for. For this example we will be using the DSTV file priority. FabSuite and Strumis apply a run number to each IDSTV+ file. If you would like to import that run number as the multipart name check this box. The next choice is find part data using name and assembly. The only time this choice will work is when you're importing from the Tekla model. That is the only place you will get the name and assembly as part of the information. The next choice is apply corrections to parts. Raptor has a function called corrections. That function does automatic modifications to parts based on settings you tell it. We can apply those corrections automatically through the import process to all of the parts as they're made into multiparts. The last choice is to overwrite parts in the database. If we previously imported these parts we can tell it to overwrite them. We only end up with one copy not two or more.

The next choice is the export options tab. We can tell it to export the files for us. We've now imported, corrected them, made multiparts and now we can tell it to export the files. In these two choices tell it where to put any single and multiparts. To choose the directory use the browse button. Navigate to the folder you want to put them in. I am dropping them into the same IDSTV+ file. Click "okay". Next, we have export single parts in multipart. I am going to select this. If I have one machine, or a pair of machines, that need to run multiparts but a secondary machine needs to run as single parts, I need to run both files. This will allow us to run the multiparts and single parts together. The last choice is to export before corrections. The exported files, both single and multiparts, will be exported without being corrected. You will have created corrected multiparts files, but they will only be resident here in Raptor. You need to export them individually.

Return to the import tab and hit go. It has created the two files from the two I had selected. Close the window and expand my multiparts. Here are my corrected files and uncorrected files. You can see that one has two parts and a remnant. This one has four parts and a remnant. If we go to the folder that I have these files placed in we can see all the files. We have the single parts and the multiparts. The XML3Dm's are multiparts. The plus symbols are something I have added via corrections that lets me know these files have been corrected. That is an indicator to me those files have been corrected and are complete.
