Europe's Steel Fabrication Gets Competitive with Butzkies Stahlbau GMBH

Steel fabrication is a global market that is becoming more and more competitive as cities have started building up as opposed to out. For many fabricators, automation was the only way to stay ahead of the competition and offer products to customers with tight turnaround times. This “My Peddinghaus Story” captures how automation helps Butzkies Stahlbau of Krempe, Germany stay competitive in the European market.

My name is Dietmar Butzkies Schiemann, and this is my Peddinghaus story.

I started as a young engineer here in Krempe with my father in 1969.

And so we bought our first machine from Peddinghaus in 1975. It was a Super 20.

I was convinced that the Peddinghaus machine was just the right machine.

We started with the FDB-600, then we got the FDB-1500, and then we got the power house, the FDB-2500.

Every time we needed tool machines, from one step to the next step, the machine will be better, they will be more quicker, that's right.

And so we grow also up in our company with these machines, because what we have done last year, maybe for the automotive in Germany, we couldn't do that before three years, that's right.

Yes, because the last year, we had an order to make 64,000 pieces, all the same.

And so the machine was running, or both of the machine was running seven days a week and 20 hours per day.

Without these Peddinghaus machines, I think we couldn't be competitive in Europe.
