My Peddinghaus Story - Severfield (UK) Ltd.

In order to compete in today's structural steel market, fabricators understand the need for CNC technology. This "My Peddinghaus Story" video takes you to Severfield (UK) Ltd. where Europe's largest fabricator is building iconic structures throughout London using Peddinghaus technology. Find out which machine has been crucial to Severfield’s operations and sped up production three-fold.

Severfield has evolved since its establishment in 1978 in a vast way.

  I mean, it started of as a small one shop, fabrication shop, which was around about 200 meters long. It's evolved now and with other nine further fabrication lines.

  Severfield services quite a lot of markets, in particular the industrial side of things, commercial, stadia the infrastructure.

  We do quite a lot work for rail, the highways, and airports as well.

  Without a doubt, Dalton is definitely the largest out of the entire group that can produce in the region of about 50,000 tons a year, this factory.

  Peddinghaus machinery that we currently have now, we have two saws, 1250 saws. We've got two BDL-1250 drills. We've got two HSFDB 2500 plate profiling machines. And we've also introduced the new PeddiWriter.

  The benefits of having Peddinghaus machines in Severfield is that it can give us and our customers peace of mind that we're going to be delivering a quality product with the ultimate accuracy.

  With all th Peddinghaus machinery that we've currently got at Severfield now, I would say that all of the equipment has been crucial to our operations.

  But if one stood out particularly for me, it would be the BDL drill.

  I'm used to seeing drills that take considerable amount of time, whereas I've seen the process speed up threefold by using the new BDL.

  The actual drilling speed is phenomenal.

  Yeah, what we've found in the conventional columns that I've got spliced ends We were finding that with our previous machinery, it was taken round about one and 1/2 hours to drill one of those particular sections.

  Now, what we're finding is we can do it in less than 30 minutes.

  There's many projects that Severfield is being part of. In particular, as I mentioned, the shard, I mentioned the Olympics, Anfield football stadium.

  This project that's just more or less completed. Various distribution centers, various high rise towers in London, Heron Tower, Broad Gate.

  To be fair, Severfield has built the majority of London.

  The satisfaction that we've got from Peddinghaus now for introducing machines in Severfield is phenomenal.

  It's great. It's given us a new lease of life. It's taking us into the 21st century.

  For me, if there's one thing in the world that want people to know about Severfield is that we are, in my words, simply the best at doing what we do.

  We can deliver all sorts of projects from the most basic to the most complex project.
