My Peddinghaus Story - Hi-Spec Engineering - Bagenalstown Co. Carlow, Ireland

In order to remain competitive in today's marketplace, fabricators understand the need for CNC technology. This "My Peddinghaus Story" takes you to the Republic of Ireland where Stephen Nolan and family are busy thriving within the agricultural industry. Utilizing the HSFDB plate processor from Peddinghaus, see how Hi-Spec has doubled production on their vertical feeder line.

The company was founded in 1988 by four brothers and three of which still remain in the company.

The company serves the agricultural industry. Mainly, we do some industrial work. But it's mainly for agriculture.

And where we are in Carlow is a good farming area and that gives us a good basis so we're close to our customer to get feedback from them on our products.

The main product lines that we have are vacuum tankers, diet feeders, muck spreaders, and slurry handling equipment and trailers.

It's a new product that we launched only last year push-off trailers, we're just getting out into that market at the minute.

The difference that HSFDB has made in our process is definitely it's a lot more flexible than we were before.

It's a much faster machine. We can get more done on it, which also gives us capacity to be able to try more stuff on it and get more plates off of it.

One example is the floors for the vertical feeders that we produce, which are an unusual shape.

And when we first--on our previous machine, we were producing them, you would typically get about one to two a day. Our first day of producing them on the plate line we got four off it. So it's enhanced our capabilities a lot in that regard.

The main benefits for Hi-Spec and our customers are the quality of plates coming off it, the accuracy that it gives. So it gives ourselves and obviously our end customers are benefiting from that quality.

And well, the plate machine gives us the capability of obviously doing plasma cutting, oxy-fuel cutting, to material thicknesses around from 6 millimeter up to 75 millimeter.

And it gives us great flexibility in that we can do face milling and edge milling, chamfering, countersinking, threaded holes.

And our products, we use pretty much all of them. And we need all of them capabilities and the plate line does that for us.

I think what sets Hi-Spec apart from others in the industry is our focus on quality.

And we are very focused on giving an excellent quality product to the customer. And it's built the way they want it. And it works the way they want it to work. And we always take our customers feedback on board to try and improve and continuously improve our products.
