My Peddinghaus Story - Severfield plc - Enniskillen, Northern Ireland

This "My Peddinghaus Story" video takes you all the way to Northern Ireland, where the Severfield team has been able to grow their business for over thirty years with a trusted provider. Discover why a recent plate production investment has been the greatest addition to Severfield.

When Severfield was first established, it served the agricultural market.

And in the late 1960s, it progressed into structural steel work. And from there, we have concentrated on structural steel work.

Severfield was founded back in the early 1950s by Thomas Fisher and the Fisher family.

Our facility here covers 250,000 square meters. And we have capacity to produce 25,000 tons of structural steel work per year.

Well, what's important to us with the Peddinghaus machinery is the build quality, and we rarely have breakdowns.

It's very reliable and that's very important to us on a business which has a very, very demanding programs.

We've got to deliver on, and we feel Peddinghaus can deliver on all of those.

The most recent purchase and the HSFDB have to be the plate profiling machine and processing machine has been the greatest addition of late to us.

And previously, we were outsourcing the material from external sources. We were relying on third parties to deliver.

And with the introduction of that machine, we've been able to do it all in place and have control over what we produce. So it's been fantastic to us.

Yeah, what we like about the HSFDB have to be as the range of activities here.

It can burn, it can drill, it can countersink, it can drill and tap. And it can machine. We can mill. And all of those things are huge assets to us.

And the fact that we can do it all in one machine in a very small space and not several different machines is a very advantageous to us.

Well, at Severfield we'd like to take on challenging jobs and more complex type structural steel work.

For example, we recently completed a 12-storey extension on top of a 30-story existing concrete tower within central London.

And that was probably one of the most challenging projects for us to date. Again it's been executed excellently.

Well, what it's meant and because we are quite restricted on our site, we're able to get much larger volumes through.

The speed of drilling, the speed of sawing, the speed of plate production has just meant we can grow our business enormously.
